Autumn Luxury

WINTER IN GUERNSEY BRINGS WITH IT ITS OWN UNIQUE CHALLENGES: HIGH WINDS THAT INEVITABLY BLOW ALL UMBRELLAS INSIDE OUT, THE KIND OF RAIN THAT IS SO PERSISTENT IT PLASTERS YOUR HAIR TO YOUR HEAD, SO THE HAIRSTYLE YOU HAVE JUST SPENT AGES PERFECTING HAS BEEN WELL AND TRULY DEMOLISHED. THE MIS-JUDGING OF THE WAVES COMING OVER THE SEA WALL AND ENDING UP AT WORK LOOKING LIKE YOU SWAM THERE. BUT I HAVE TO SAY DESPITE THE ABOVE I ABSOLUTELY LOVE AUTUMN. THE LEAVES TURNING EARTHY RUSTIC TONES, LAYERING THICK WOOLLY JUMPERS, WARMING WHOLESOME FOOD, AND AFTERNOON CHILLY STROLLS WITH HANDS WELL AND TRULY STUFFED INTO POCKETS OR IN GLOVES
M&S’s new season wardrobe has got you covered (in more ways than one) and brings with it unexpected pops of colour to the season ahead.
AUTOGRAPH CASHMERE
Whether you want to step up your wardrobe or as a gift, we have Classic neutral to Ombre tones in our Cashmere this season. Just to clarify, yes I did indeed say Cashmere... Let’s talk about...NEW

New year, new you, new shoes, dress, coat, bag. We all love something new! The sparkly the better! If it makes you feel fab, it’s perfect... but it’s always things, never really our hair! So let’s break out of our same ol’ same ol’ and try something different... it couldn’t be easier!! There are options whatever your hair colour
If you’re a brunette ... brunettes should never be one tone. Let's sprinkle subtle tones of browns, auburns, deep copper and hazel through our lengths to add movement and vibrancy. Blondes, let’s add champagne, rose, and beige for brightness and cool warmth. Take contouring to new heights and bring vibrancy and lift around your eyes... we all want our eyes and lips to stand out. Contouring in contrasting shades around your face can reveal a new you. Redheads, let’s add some drama in the most subtle of ways and tip out your layers in deep golds or burning reds, adding movement and interest. Don’t feel left out if you’re grey either, there’s a host of options to have a ‘non’ colour that needs no upkeep but gets you a fabulous new look. Micro lights, a toner or even something as simple as a coloured conditioner will leave your hair looking fabulous.

Put down the straightening irons
Next year is all about texture and movement. Let’s put down the straightening irons, the hairdryer and get a cut that enhances our natural movement. Top tip: did you know, if you follow what your hair wants to do naturally, with a tweak or two, your hair will work so much better for you with little ‘to do’ time.
Embrace the versatility of clip ins
Maybe you want a change that doesn’t last so long? Something that you can jump in and out of? The answer and versatility is in clip-ins. No maintenance, no hassle, and an instant new look. From braids and pony tails, to thickness and fringes. These added extras can cause a fabulous statement. They can also help you out when in a rush. Hair needs a wash, a colour and a blow dry? A pony tail extension could be the answer or a hair ‘hair band. Don’t disregard the clip in. They could change your hairlife forever. But whatever you decided to do this Christmas and new year... take a chance. Try something new. But do it with a generous sprinkling of sparkly, happy new stuff. We all love new!

New year, new you?

We all have heard that one, haven’t we? In my opinion, we should all strive to be the best person we can be every day, no matter what time of year it is. The key to continuing our exercise goals is to stay motivated. So how do we do that? Here are a few suggestions that may help you… SET GOALS

Having a goal or target is one of the easiest ways to get motivated. This could be planning a beach holiday, or perhaps a wedding or special event. It could be losing a few kilos, reducing body fat, fitting into a certain outfit or adding muscle mass!
REWARD YOURSELF

Work towards a big reward for reaching your ambitious target, such as a new outfit or a weekend away. If you achieve your weight loss goal, splash out on a pizza or other ‘naughty treats’ to celebrate.
GET A BUDDY

Get a fitness buddy. Exercising with a friend keeps you accountable, pushing you both to exercise when you may lose motivation on your own. You could also join a running club, sports club, or boot camp, or try activities where other people are always involved, such as dance, yoga or boxing.
TRY SOMETHING NEW

The new year can be the perfect time to change up your workout routine. Check out classes in your area to find one that interests you. REFLECTIONS IN THE MIRROR LAKE

As we prepare to cosy-in, hunker down and retreat indoors for the course of winter, it is impossible to ignore the feelings of dread that we have associated with doing so. But I believe that this inward journey is an important annual phase, with incredible benefits to our lifelong journey of growth if we use it in helpful ways.
Just like the squirrels and bears, this necessary stage in the constant cycle of life is best seen as an opportunity to rebirth. Let this time to nest, burrow, roost, hibernate and reflect through the biting cold, pave the way to a stronger, fresher you in springtime.
The festive holiday season is all about indulgence; whether in family, friends, good food, good drinks, or all of the above. Our age-old traditions warm the soul. Taking special time out to reconnect and slow it all down, to forget about the stresses of life for a moment or two and this year, perhaps, to start positively laying the foundations to a better you.
Interestingly, holiday indulgence can be divided into two groups. First, are the primary foods, including your surroundings, the people you’re with, the weather. More generally, the things that still charge you up energetically and feed you, yet don’t belong on your plate. After that, are your secondary foods, the ones that you do actually eat.
Improving your health in order to achieve a higher level of fulfillment, happiness, body confidence and self love requires good food on both of these plates. So, if you’re setting your intentions on a personal transformation after the New Year, then don’t feel regretful for the indulgence in your holidays; just know that your soul has been fed and that’s like a superpower to you as you move on into 2022, recharged, re-energised, re-invented.
The upcoming months of hibernation are your opportunity to dream big, create new aspirations, and focus on you. If you have health resolutions or personal goals and seek accountability whilst developing dynamic new habits that change with the seasons of your lifestyle, then I’d love to hear from you.
